MC Preparedness Committee

(Anti Terrorism)

Chair: Mark Corona, Federal Express

Mission:

To prepare Morris County businesses and families for disaster via close cooperation with the public sector.

The MC Preparedness Committee is a critical endeavor geared towards helping Morris County prepare for disaster. The committee achieves this goal via five key methods:

  • Promoting close cooperation with the public sector
  • Sharing of best practices
  • Identifying sector vulnerabilities and opportunities for improvement
  • Providing private sector assets that can be deployed in case of emergency
  • Tabletop and field exercises

Broad Industry Representation
The MC Preparedness Committee is comprised of the Infrastructure Advisory Group (IAG), Target Hardening and Security, and Asset Database Group. The IAG is the largest component and includes subcommittees representing the complete spectrum of businesses in Morris County, including:

  • Healthcare and Human Services
  • Transportation
  • Communications
  • Chemicals
  • Food, Entertainment and Hospitality
  • Education
  • Real Estate
  • Professional Services
  • Power & Utilities

The public sector of Morris County, including the Morris County Prosecutor’s office, Health Department and Office of Emergency Management are key components of the IAG.

  Activities and Highlights:

  • Annual Preparedness Conference
  • Bimonthly Meetings
  • Monthly seminars and conference calls on preparedness-related topics. Topics have included:
  • SARS
  • Avian Flu
  • Business Continuity Planning
  • Hurricane Preparedness
  • Terrorism
  • Supply Chain Disruption
